2022年2月19日　オランダの提携校、HANZE大学で理学療法を学ぶ4年生1名と、本学学生9名、理学療法学科の卒業生2名、国際交流センタースタッフ3名、総勢14名でOnline交流しました。今回のお相手は日本で生まれ、高校まで日本の教育を受けた後、HANZE大学に留学された方で、卒業後はヨーロッパで働く理学療法士を目指しているそうです。HANZE大学は、学生数28,000人を超えるマンモス校で、留学生だけでも2,300人強が在籍。学士号の医療プログラムとして、理学?言語療法、栄養、歯科、診療放射線学等のコースがあるそうです。大学紹介の他、授業スタイル、文化などのお話をしていただきましたが、オランダ人の特徴として、「竹を割ったような性格」で思ったことははっきり言い、先生とも名前で呼び合って大変フレンドリーだという事でした。また、授業は、先生から教えてもらうのではなく、学生主体でグループワークを進めていくのが基本で、実習先も自分で探して決めるなど、学生に対する責任と信頼が大きいのだそうです。本学の参加学生は日本との違いに驚きながらもその合理性や自立性に、大いに学ぶところがあり、授業と授業の合間に水路で泳ぐなど、楽しむことにも全力投球なオランダ学生ライフを耳にして、是非訪れてみたいと思ったようです。近い将来、双方で行き来できるプログラムが出来たら良いですね。

On the 19th of February 2022, we had an online exchange with a 4th year student studying physiotherapy at our partner school in the Netherlands, Hanze University. From Takasaki University of Health and Welfare, 9 students, 2 graduates from the Department of Physiotherapy and 3 staff from the Centre of International Affairs participated the event . The guest who was born in Japan and educated in Japan until high school, studied at Hanze University and is aiming to work in Europe as a physiotherapist after graduation. Hanze University is a large school with over 28,000 students and over 2,300 international students. The undergraduate medical program includes courses in physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, nutrition, dentistry and radiology. In addition to the introduction of the university, she talked about the style of teaching, culture, etc. One of the characteristics of the Dutch people is that they have a straightforward personality (we say a personality like “split bamboo” in Japanese.), speak their mind clearly, and are very friendly with their teachers, calling each other by name. In addition, the classes are not taught by the teachers, but by the students themselves, and they are responsible and trustworthy. The participating students were surprised by the differences between Japan and the Netherlands, but also learned a lot from the rationality and independence of the Dutch students. We hope that in the near future we will be able to have mutual programs between the two countries.
